צמחונות

צמחונות היא אורח חיים המתאפיין בהימנעות מאכילת בשר בעלי חיים (ובזה גם דגים), אך עשוי לכלול מוצרי מזון מן החי שאינם גוף בעלי החיים עצמם, כגון ביצים או חלב ומוצריו. צמחונים הנמנעים באופן כללי גם ממזונות אחרים מהחי נקראים לרוב טבעונים ואלו מנמקים את המנעותם בבעיות שונות בתעשיית הביצים, כגון גריסת אפרוחים או בעיות שונות בתעשיית החלב.

רבים מהצמחונים נמנעים גם מלבישת מלבוש המכיל עור אמיתי, או צמר, וכן מרכישת ריהוט המכיל אותם (כמו כריות המכילות נוצות). סיבות אפשריות לאימוץ תזונה או אורח חיים צמחוני הן למשל נימוק מוסרי או אידאולוגיה, טעם אישי, סיבות בריאותיות, נימוקים רוחניים ודתיים, נימוקים סביבתיים-אקולוגיים, ועוד.
