חומרים פעילי שטח (ראשי תיבות: חפ"ש) היא קבוצה גדולה של חומרים, המשמשים ליצירת קולואידים (מערכות מפוזרות): מערכות בהן פאזה אחת (נוזל, מוצק או גז) מפוזרת בפאזה אחרת. שימוש נוסף ועיקרי של משפחה זו הוא הורדת מתח הפנים של נוזל. לרוב מדובר בתרכובות אורגניות אמפיפיליות, כלומר שהמולקולות שלהן בנויות מחלק הידרופובי (המכונה "זנב") וחלק הידרופילי (המכונה "ראש"). לחומרים אלו שימוש נרחב בחיי היום יום ובתעשייה.
