Boswellia in the
family Burseraceae, particularly
Boswellia sacra (
syn: B. bhaw-dajiana), B. carterii

B. thurifera, Indian frankincense), and
B. papyrifera. The English word is derived from
Old French "franc encens" (i.e., high quality incense).
