בית סוהר (מכונה גם בית כלא, כלא ובית אסורים) הוא לרוב מבנה מבוצר ושמור, שבו אנשים מוחזקים בכפייה ונשללות מהם חרויות שונות. בתי סוהר מוקמים בהוראת ממשלות כחלק ממערכת המשפט, לשם ריצוי עונש מאסר, בדרך כלל כזה שהוטל על ידי בית המשפט, בהתאם להוראות החוק.
