אוגיט הוא מינרל אינוסיליקטי, כלומר סיליקטים במבנה דמוי שרשרות, , מלנוקרטי (בעל גוון כהה), השייך לקבוצת המינרלים פירוקסן. נוסחתו הכימית היא Ca, Na)(Mg, Fe, Al)(Al, Si)₂O₆) או סיליקט של מגנזיום, ברזל ואלומיניום. המינרל מצוי בסלעי יסוד כדוגמת בזלת וגברו ובסלעים מותמרים שמקורם במבועים הידרותרמיים.
