דאקיה

דאקיה (Dacia) בעת העתיקה הייתה ארצם של בני העם המכונים דאקים (Daci). דאקיה הייתה אזור גדול במזרח אירופה שגבולותיו: הרי הקרפטים בצפון, הדנובה בדרום, נהר הטיסה (הונגריה המודרנית) במערב ובמזרח הנהר טיראס (כיום דניסטר במזרח מולדובה). באופן גס חופף שטחה של דאקיה ההיסטורית לשטחיהן של רומניה ומולדובה. בירת דאקיה הייתה סרמיסג'טוזה. משערים כי מוצא תושבי האזור משבטים תרקיים. הדאקים מכונים בכתבים יוונים גטון (וברבים גטאה - Getae) וגם Dai והרומאים כינו אותם דאקים או גֵטים. הדאקים היו מצוידים למלחמה בחרב מעוגלת שנקראה "דאקה" Daca ונראה ששמם נגזר ממנה.
