Scorpions are predatory arachnids of the order Scorpiones. They have eight legs and are easily recognised by the pair of grasping pedipalps and the narrow, segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back, ending with a venomous stinger. Scorpions range in size from 9 mm (Typhlochactas mitchelli) to 23 cm (Heterometrus swammerdami).

In the series, O'Brien and his friends help each other to solve complex global problems and save lives. The series premiered on September 22, 2014 and airs in the United States on Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS. On October 27, 2014, CBS placed a full season episode order for the first season. In January 2015, the show was renewed for a second season. The second season began airing on September 21, 2015.
