טופוגרפיה הוא תחום בגאוגרפיה, העוסק בחקר צורות פני השטח של כדור הארץ, תיאורן ומיפויים. (מיוונית, טופוס - שטח, גרפיה - רישום). תחום זה נלמד באוניברסיטה, תנועות נוער, חוגי סיירות ובצבא. יישום מעשי של תורה זו הוא ביצירת מפות טופוגרפיות ובניווט. לטופוגרפיה שימושים אזרחיים וצבאיים שונים, ובהם תיור, ניווט, וככלי עזר לפעילות צבאית ולהנדסה אזרחית. הגוף המרכזי האחראי על תחום זה בישראל, הוא המרכז למיפוי ישראל (מפ"י).
