מניה היא נייר ערך המקנה חלק בבעלות בחברה המקנה בעלות חלקית בזכויות והשליטה בחברה ובכלל זה זכות הצבעה, זכות לקבלת דיבידנד וזכויות בפירוק. לכל אחד מבעלי המניות ישנן מניה או מניות, כלומר זכויות וחובות הנוגעות לבעלות בחברה וליחסים בין בעלי המניות האחרים. חלק מהזכויות שמקנות המניה הן זכויות כלכליות (כספיות), ומכאן שהמניה היא נכס השווה כסף. חלוקת המניות בין בעלי המניות מייצגת את שיעור הבעלות של כל אחד מהם בחברה. דהינו, מעמדו של מחזיק המניה ילך ויתחזק ככל שיש בידיו יותר מניות.

המניה הראשונה בעולם הייתה של חברת הודו המזרחית ההולנדית ונסחרה בבורסת אמסטרדם.
