החייאה היא אוסף פעולות מלאכותיות הנעשות באדם הסובל מכשל במערכות קיום החיים (מע' העצבים המרכזית, מערכת הדם והלב, מערכת הנשימה) ומטרתם היא להשיב את הפעילות התקינה של מערכות אלו או לפחות לשמור על רמת חימצון סבירה בגוף עד להגעת צוות רפואי מיומן.
