הקלטה היא תהליך של רישום לאורך זמן של מידע מהסביבה (בדרך-כלל קול או אור) על גבי מדיה מכנית או אלקטרונית, כגון תקליטסרט מגנטי, או זיכרון מחשב. את המידע שהוקלט ניתן לאחר-מכן לשחזר, כלומר להשמיע מחדש את הצלילים שהוקלטו או להציג מחדש את רצף התמונות (סרט) שהוקלט. איכות ההקלטה משקפת את מידת הנאמנות של המידע המוקלט למקור.
