מיתוֹ‏ס (ביוונית: μῦθος) הוא סיפור עם, המתאר אירועים (בין אם בעבר, ובין אם בהווה או בעתיד) שיש להם חשיבות יוצאת דופן או משמעות עמוקה עבור קהילה מסוימת, לרוב בהשתתפות אלים או גיבורים על אנושיים, אך הכולל גם סיפור אשר למשתתפים בו, בין אם הם מופעלים או מפעילים, קיים אופי פרסונלי, התורמים לעיצוב זהותה ותפיסתה של אותה הקבוצה, המאמינה והדבקה במיתוס.
