(ש"ע) דג מלוח

מָלִיחַ או הרינג (שם מדעי: Clupea. מכונה דג מלוח) הוא סוג דג גרם ממשפחת הסרדיניים אשר חי במים רדודים בצפון האוקיינוס האטלנטי והאוקיינוס השקט, בים הבלטי ובים התיכון. ידועים חמישה עשר מיני מליח, אך הנפוץ ביותר הוא המליח האטלנטי (Clupea harengus). דגי ההרינג נעים בלהקות גדולות ומגיעים באביב לחופי אירופה וצפון אמריקה, שם הם ניצודים.

המליח נפוץ מאוד כדג מאכל בקרב קהילות יהדות אשכנז, בעיקר כדג מלוח או דג מעושן, שנקרא לעתים פיקלינג (מגרמנית: Bückling). חלק מן הדגים המשומרים הנמכרים ברשתות המזון ב"קופסאות סרדינים" הם למעשה שימורי הרינג.
