Hövding is the world's first airbag bicycle helmet, invented by Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin in Malmö, Sweden in 2005. After six years of research, development and testing, the Hövding was launched in 2011. The Hövding helmet doesn’t look like a helmet at all, but like a round scarf, because the airbag does not deploy unless there is a crash. Sensors in the scarf collar measure vibrations and only react to critical values. The Airbag Helmet protects also neck and face. It has currently sold more than 14,000 units world-wide.
