אֵלִיטָה (מצרפתית: élite, נבחרים) הוא מונח בסוציולוגיה המתאר קבוצת אנשים מצומצמת בחברה, אשר זוכה ליחס מועדף על פני יתר הקבוצות בחברה, מחזיקה בעוצמה חברתית המאפשרת לה שליטה או השפעה מכריעה על החברה או על חלקים ממנה. ההמון, לעומת האליטה, מהווה מספרית את רוב החברה ואינו מאורגן, נעדר עוצמה ומגויס מלמעלה על ידי האליטות.

מאפייניה הייחודיים של קבוצת האליטה מזכים אותה ביחס מועדף על פני יתר החברה, בין מאפיינים אלו נמנים: מעמד חברתי, מעמד כלכלי, מוצא אתני, משאבים, כישורים ותפקידים מיוחדים. למרות עוצמתה, האליטה זקוקה לתמיכה מההמון.
