The Noble Eightfold path consists of the eight steps by which a person can achieve
Nirvana . This is the path by which one ceases to desire and thereby ceases to suffer (see
dukkha ). This path leads to a form of meditation which, similar to Raja Yoga in Hinduism, enables a person to reach
enlightenment . The eight stages are: 1) Right Views. 2) Right Intent. 3) Right Speech. 4) Right Conduct. 5) Right livelihood. 6) Right effort. 7) Right mindfulness. 8) Right concentration.
