ריקוד הוא התנועעותו של גוף האדם תוך יצירת תבניות תנועתיות הנושאות משמעות או מידע (אסתטי, רגשי, חברתי), בדרך כלל באופן קצבי ולצלילי מוזיקה, המתבצעת או כאומנות מול קהל או למטרות בילוי, טקסים חברתיים, מסורתיים או דתיים, פולחן, ספורט, ריפוי וכדומה. המילה ריקוד מתארת גם שרשרת מסוימת, מוגדרת ומקובעת, של תנועות ריקוד, למשל: הריקוד "צדיק כתמר" או ריקוד גשם אינדיאני. בהרחבה מתאר המושג התנועעות של חיות או עצמים המזכירה ריקוד אנושי: "דבורת הדבש רוקדת ריקוד המודיע על מיקומו וכמותו של מזון"; .

בעברית של ימינו משתמשים במושג מחול לתיאור כל סוג ריקוד שמיועד להיות מבוצע מול קהל ונתפס כאומנות, בניגוד לצורות ריקוד שמבוצעות למטרות אחרות.
