אנטיכולינרגי Anticholinergic
 מונח המתייחס לחסימת הפעילות המערכת העצבית הפאראסימפטטית למשל ע"י תרופה. המערכת פועלת בעזרת המעביר העצבי (נוירוטרנסמיטור) אצטיל כולין. החומר אצטילכולין שהינו מעביר עצבי המופרש על ידי קצות תאי עצב, והמאפשר העברת אותות עצביים מסוימים, כולל אלה המביאים להרפייה או לכיווץ שרירים לא רצוניים מסוימים. לדוגמה: תרופות אנטיכולינרגיות מרפות גם את שרירי דופן המעי, וכך מקילות על תיסמונת המעי הרגיז. התרופה מסיעת לשיכוך עווית שרירים. התרופה משמשת לטיפול: במחלת פרקינסון, בתסמונת המעי הרגיז ובהפרעות נשימתיות מסויימות.

Anticholinergic
An anticholinergic agent is a substance that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the central and the peripheral nervous system. Anticholinergics inhibit parasympathetic nerve impulses by selectively blocking the binding of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine to its receptor in nerve cells. The nerve fibers of the parasympathetic system are responsible for the involuntary movement of smooth muscles present in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, lungs, etc. Anticholinergics are divided into three categories in accordance with their specific targets in the central and/or peripheral nervous system: antimuscarinic agents, ganglionic blockers, and neuromuscular blockers.

Anticholinergic
The action of certain medications that inhibit the transmission of parasympathetic nerve impulses and thereby reduce spasms of smooth muscle (such as t6hat, for example, in the bladder). Antinuclear antibodies (ANA): Antibodies directed against the nucleus of a cell. The ANA test is almost always positive (indicative of the presence of antinuclear antibodies) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It may also be positive in other connective tissue diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma.
