Turan (
Persian ) literally means "the land of the
Tur", and is a region in
Central Asia. The term is of
Persian origin and may refer to a certain prehistoric human settlement, a historic geographical region, or a culture. The original Turanians were an
Iranian tribe of the
Avestan age.
Pál Turán
Paul (Pál) Turán (; 18 August 1910 – 26 September 1976) was a
Hungarian mathematician who worked primarily in
number theory. He had a long collaboration with fellow Hungarian mathematician
Paul Erdos, lasting 46 years and resulting in 28 joint papers.

Turan
[Etruscan] The Etruscan goddess of love, health, and fertility, and the patroness of the city Vulci (in the current Italian province Viterbo). Turan is usually portrayed as a young woman with wings on her back. The pigeon and black swan are her symbolic animals and she is accompanied by the Lasas. Her Roman equivalent is Venus.
