הייראפוליס

הייראפוליס (יוונית Ιεράπολις - "עיר קדושה"; טורקית Hierapolis) הייתה עיר עתיקה שהוקמה בראשו של תל המעיינות החמים פמוקלה, כ-19 ק"מ מצפון לעיר דניזלי, בדרום-מערב אסיה הקטנה שבטורקיה של ימינו. על פי האמונה הנוצרית, הוצא להורג בעיר השליח הנוצרי ותלמידו של ישו, פיליפוס הקדוש . העיר, כמו התל בפמוקלה, הוכרזה כאתר מורשת עולמית בשנת 1988.

Hierapolis

Hierapolis (, lit. "Holy City") was an ancient city located on hot springs in classical Phrygia in southwestern Anatolia. Its ruins are adjacent to modern Pamukkale in Turkey and currently comprise an archaeological museum designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hierapolis

sacred city, a city of Phrygia, where was a Christian church under the care of Epaphras (Col. 4:12, 13). This church was founded at the same time as that of Colosse. It now bears the name of Pambuk-Kalek, i.e., "Cotton Castle", from the white appearance of the cliffs at the base of which the ruins are found.
