Heterochromatin – מילון אנגלי-אנגלי
heterochromatin
n.
stainable part of a chromosome
Heterochromatin
Heterochromatin is a tightly packed form of
DNA, which comes in multiple varieties. Because it is tightly packed, it is inaccessible to polymerases and is therefore not transcribed. These varieties lie on a continuum between the two extremes of
constitutive and
facultative heterochromatin. Both play a role in the
expression of genes.
Heterochromatin (das)
n.
heterochromatin, stainable part of a chromosome
Heterochromatin
A genetically inactive part of the genome, heterochromatin was so named because it was chromosomal material (chromatin) that stained differently, more darkly, all through the cell cycle, than most chromosomal material (which was named euchromatin). There are two types, namely constituitive heterochromatin and facultative heterochromatin.
