GUI
Graphic User Interface
ממשק אדם מחשב (עיין ערך) גרפי המבוסס על חלונות ואמצעים גרפיים מתקדמים כמו: צלמיות (icons), תפריטים (pull-down, pop-up menus), תיבות שיחה (dialog boxes), טבלאות אחזור (selection tables), שילוב תמונות, דימות (imaging) ועוד. ממשק גרפי מבוסס על טכניקת bit-map בה כל אובייקט המופיע על המסך הוא 'מצויר' (ע"י מספר רב של נקודות גרפיות זעירות) וניתן על כן להזזה, שינוי גודל, סיבוב וכו' נוחים. יש מספר הגדרות (יישומים, 'תקנים') של GUI כגון זה של חב' Apple (מחשבי מקינטוש), OS/2 PM של יב"מ, Open Look של חב' SUN, Motif של OSF ועוד.

    In computer science, a graphical user interface or GUI, pronounced ("gooey") is a type of interface that allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and visual indicators such as secondary notation, as opposed to text-based interfaces, typed command labels or text navigation. GUIs were introduced in reaction to the perceived steep learning curve of command-line interfaces (CLIs), which require commands to be typed on the keyboard.
