EIS
Executive Information System
סוג מיוחד של מערכת מידע עבור הדרג הניהולי הבכיר בארגון. מערכות אלה מצטיינות בממשקי אדם מחשב נוחים במיוחד, ביכולת להציג מידע תמציתי וכוללני יחד עם יכולת "צלילה פנימה" וירידה לפרטים (drill-down) לפי הצורך. למרות השאיפה להביא לשילוב מלא בין מערכות EIS ובין מערכות המידע התפעוליות, ברוב המקרים, מערכות EIS נבנות כמערכות ייעודיות, עם הזנת נתונים, כלים ובסיס מידע משלהם. ה"צלילה פנימה" נעשית ע"י קישור למערכת האופרטיבית (כספים, רכש ומלאי, ניהול פרויקטים וכו') ולא באופן ישיר ו"אוטומטי". זאת, מסיבות טכנולוגיות, גורמי אנוש וחיסיון מידע.
