Cyanobacteria – מילון אנגלי-אנגלי
cyanobacterium
n.
blue-green alga, bacterium which lives in water and produces energy by photosynthesis (conversion of light energy into chemical energy) like algae (therefore the name "blue-green algae")
Cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria , also known as
Cyanophyta, is a
phylum of
bacteria that obtain their energy through
photosynthesis. The name "cyanobacteria" comes from the color of the bacteria ( = blue). They are often called
blue-green algae (but some consider that name a misnomer, as cyanobacteria are
prokaryotic and
algae should be
eukaryotic, although other definitions of algae encompass prokaryotic organisms).
cyanobacteria
Noun
1. predominantly photosynthetic prokaryotic organisms containing a blue pigment in addition to chlorophyll; occur singly or in colonies in diverse habitats; important as phytoplankton
(synonym) blue-green algae
(hypernym) eubacteria, eubacterium, true bacteria
(hyponym) nostoc
(member-holonym) class Cyanobacteria, Cyanophyceae, class Cyanophyceae
Cyanobacteria
Photosynthetic (photo-autotroph), unicellular prokaryote (in the Kingdom Monera). Formerly known as blue-green algae. It contains chlorophyll a but not chloroplast. They reproduce by fission and never sexually.
cyanobacterium
s.
cyanobacterium, blågrønnalge, bakterie som lever i vann og produserer energi ved fotosyntese (omdanning av lysenergi til kjemisk energi) som alger (derfor navnet blågrønnalge)
