בודהידהרמה

בודהידהרמה (סנסקריט: बोधिधमृ, סינית: פוּטידאמוֹ 菩提達摩, יפנית: דארוּמַה ダルマ) הוא שמו של נזיר בודהיסטי הודי אשר חי במאות ה-5 או ה-6 לפנה"ס. על פי המסורת ייסד את הצ'אן בודהיזם (המוכר במערב וביפן כזן בודהיזם) בסין, כמו גם את אסכולת השאולין בתורת הלחימה קונג פו.

Bodhidharma

Bodhidharma was a Buddhist monk who lived during the 5th or 6th century. He is traditionally credited as the transmitter of Chan Buddhism to China, and regarded as its first Chinese patriarch. According to Chinese legend, he also began the physical training of the monks of Shaolin Monastery that led to the creation of Shaolin Kung Fu.

Bodhidharma

Bodhidharma (Sanskrit) [from bodhi wisdom + dharma law, spiritual ethics] Wisdom-religion, the wisdom involved in the teachings concerning reality.
Also a great arhat Kshatriya (460?-534) who traveled to China, and was instrumental in disseminating Buddhist teachings there. His guru, Panyatara, is said to have given him the name Bodhidharma to mark his understanding (bodhi) of the Law (dharma) of the Buddha.
