הח'ליפות העבאסית (בערבית: الدولة العباسية, בתעתיק מדויק: אלדולה אלעבאסיה, מילולית: "המדינה העבאסית") הייתה השושלת אשר שלטה ברובה של האימפריה המוסלמית בין שנת 750 לשנת 1258. את הח'ליפות הנהיגו הח'ליפים לבית עבאס אשר הביסו את שושלת הח'ליפים הקודמת של בית אומיה בשנת 750, והעבירו את בירת האימפריה מדמשק לבגדאד ובהמשך לסאמראא שבעיראק המודרנית.

Abbasid Caliphate
The Abbasid Caliphate ( or ) was the third of the Islamic caliphates to succeed the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The Abbasid dynasty descended from Muhammad's youngest uncle, Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (566–653 CE), from whom the dynasty takes its name. They ruled as caliphs, for most of their period from their capital in Baghdad in modern-day Iraq, after assuming authority over the Muslim empire from the Umayyads in 750 CE (132 AH).

Abbasids
The Abbasids--a dynasty of Sunni Moslems--took over the Caliphate from the Umayyads in 750 and held it until 1258. They established their capital in Bagdad. During their reign, Islamic arts, literature, and culture blossomed and flourished. The location of the capital in Bagdad had a big impact on Islam, transforming it from a distinctly Mediterranean religion to one with more eastern elements.
