וזופרסין (Vasopressin) הוא הורמון המורכב מ-9 חומצות אמינו המכונה גם הורמון נוגד השתנה (הורמון אנטי-דיורטי) (ADH – Antidiuretic hormone) מופרש על ידי בלוטת יותרת המוח, משפיע על הכליות כשהוא מווסת את הפרשת השתן בהתאם לרמת המלחים בדם וכמות הנוזלים בגוף. במינים שונים ישנן גרסאות שונות להורמון זה: בבני האדם זהו הArginine vasopressin או Argipressin בו חומצה אמינית מס' 8 היא ארגינין ואילו אצל החזירים זהו הLyspressin בו הארגינין מתחלף בליזין. וזופרסין משמש גם מוליך עצבי ממשפחת הנוירופפטידים במערכת העצבים.

כאשר הגוף חש בירידת שיעור המים בדם (ובעליית שיעור המלחים) מופרש ההורמון מבלוטת יותרת המוח, ההיפופיזה, אל הדם ומגיע דרך מערכת ההובלה אל הכליות שם, באמצעות הגברת הספיגה החוזרת של מים מהנפרון שבכליה אל הדם, הוא מקטין את כמות המים אשר יגיעו לשלפוחית השתן. כך ייווצר איזון בין אחוז המלחים בגוף ולבין אחוז המים בו, ותישמר כמות מתאימה של נוזלים בגוף. ההורמון עושה זאת על ידי סטימולצית תאים המקיפים את הצינור המאסף ("Collecting duct"), בצינור זה נערך הסינון האחרון של השתן המופרש לפני ההגעה לשלפוחית השתן. ADH מגרה תאים אלו לייצור ושחרור שלפוחיות המכילות חלבונים הנקראים "אקוופורינים" (ובמקרה זה- AQP2). חלבונים אלו משמשים תעלות להולכת מים. השלפוחיות מתמזגות עם קרום התא הפונה אל הצינור המאסף וריכוז תעלות המים שבקרום עולה משמעותית. בעקבות כך, מים יוצאים מהצינור המאסף אל תאים אלו ומשם בפעפוע אל מחזור הדם.
