About
Nauplius
[Greek] The son of Poseidon and Amymone. He is the legendary founder of Nauplia (Nafplion), a harbor city at the Bay of Argolis. The king of Euboea, father of Palamedes. When his son was killed by the Greeks at Troy, he avenged himself by lighting bonfires on the clips of his island, thus misleading the Greeks when they sailed home. Many of the ships shipwrecked and were lost.
