יבשת היא שטח גדול ורציף של יבשה על פני כדור הארץ. אין בגאוגרפיה הגדרה מדויקת ליבשת, ואין גבולות מוסכמים בין היבשות. בתרבויות שונות מגדירים יבשות שונות, ובזמנים שונים בהיסטוריה הוגדרו שטחים שונים כיבשות שונות.

יבשת, משטח גדול של גושי גרניט עתיקים ועבים בקרום כדור הארץ, הצפים משום משקלם הסגולי הנמוך (2.7 גרם לסמ"ק) על פני קרום דק ורצוף של מגמה צפופה יותר (כ-3 גרם לסמ"ק). ככל שהיבשת גבוהה יותר, בסיסה עמוק יותר.
