אוסטרליה

אוסטרליה (באנגלית: Australia), או בשם הרשמי קהיליית אוסטרליה (לעתים חבר העמים האוסטרלי; באנגלית: Commonwealth of Australia), היא פדרציה המאגדת בתוכה שש מדינות ושתי טריטוריות יבשתיות עיקריות. המדינות הן ניו סאות' ויילס, ויקטוריה, קווינסלנד, אוסטרליה הדרומית, אוסטרליה המערבית וטסמניה. הטריטוריות הן הטריטוריה הצפונית וטריטוריית הבירה האוסטרלית. אוסטרליה היא מונרכיה חוקתית, משתייכת לממלכות חבר העמים הבריטי והמלכה אליזבת השנייה היא ראש המדינה.

האוכלוסייה באוסטרליה כיום כוללת ברובה את האדם הלבן ממוצא בריטי. תושביה המקוריים של אוסטרליה וילידי המקום הם כהי עור, מכונים אבוריג'ינים, ומהווים כיום מעט יותר מ-2 אחוזים מאוכלוסיית היבשת, באוסטרליה נמצא גם מיעוט גדול של יהודים (מעל 100,000), בעיקר בניו סאות' ויילס.
